Xinhua News Agency, Nanjing, December 27 (Reporter Chen Xiyuan) The reporter learned from Soochow University on the 27th that the team of Professor Chen Yuyue from the School of Textile and Apparel Engineering of the school has successfully developed a new type of long-acting antibacterial and antiviral textiles, and realized industrial production. The virus activity rate and bacteriostatic rate are over 99%, and the washing resistance is good.

According to Chen Yuyue, the team has been studying nano-silver textiles for a long time. After the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia this year, the team started to develop civilian antibacterial and antiviral textile fabrics. It entered laboratory tests in March and completed sample production in May. Industrial production has been successfully achieved.

Chen Yuyue said that the antibacterial and antiviral technologies commonly used in textiles at home and abroad have shortcomings that cannot withstand multiple washings. "This time we applied nano-silver assembly technology to directionally infiltrate silver ions into the fiber, and then perform nano-assembly, which effectively solves the problem of washing resistance. This technology is suitable for cotton, wool, silk, chemical fiber and other textiles. It can be widely used in masks, scarves, underwear and home textile products, and has a broad market prospect."

According to reports issued by relevant specialized testing institutions, this new type of anti-bacterial and anti-viral textile has antiviral activity against influenza A viruses H1N1 and H3N2, as well as its antibacterial activity against Candida albicans, Escherichia coli, and Staphylococcus aureus. Both reached more than 99%. After placing the textile in natural conditions for 4 months and washing it 50 times according to standard procedures by a third-party inspection agency, the antibacterial rate against Staphylococcus aureus is still above 99%.
